Current PTMWA Volunteering Opportunities 

Spring 2023 Update

We currently have various opportunities for volunteering. Many require a weekly commitment, whilst some involve volunteers being available on an Ad-hoc basis. As always, volunteer applicants who can speak a second language are highly sought-after and we would love to hear from you. The volunteering team are currently in the process of assessing all roles across the organisation, so when filling out the registration form below, please give us as much information as possible about yourself and your availability. This will enable us to get an idea of how you are best-placed to support the organisation.

Current Available Roles

Children and Young People Volunteer: We have a small number of regular opportunities available within the Children and Young People's Service (CYPS), including supporting open play sessions and therapeutic intervention sessions.

There is also an Ad-hoc opportunity for volunteers to be on a register for CYPS trips out during the summer holidays. This involves supporting staff in taking children who are living in MWA refuges to various activities across Greater Manchester.

Reach Community Navigator: We are currently recruiting for volunteers who can help with the Reach service. This involves supporting service users who are in temporary accommodation, and helping them to navigate their local community. At the moment, we are looking for volunteers who live in North Manchester.

We are looking for a Volunteer Community Navigator who can to support an Urdu-speaking service-user in North Manchester. This is to start as soon as possible, so an already-existing Enhanced DBS check is preferred.

Emerge Refuge Support: There is an opportunity for an Amharic-speaking volunteer to support a service-user. Please get in touch for more details.

Heritage Volunteer: We are looking for volunteers to help run the Museum, guide visitors and create moments for interaction. The museum is open on Thursday's and Sunday's, volunteers are needed one day per month, shifts are all day 10-4pm, morning 10-1pm and afternoon 1-4pm. Our heritage volunteers are the lifeblood of the Museum and without them we would be unable to share the story of the iconic building with visitors. 

Volunteer Translator: Volunteers who speak a second language are highly requested and vital to the running of our services. they are involved in many roles, from Translating documents, to Outreach visits and Phone Buddy calls. Please contact us directly if you are confident in speaking, writing and/or interpreting another language to determine which roles may be most suited to you. (BSL, Urdu, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, and Arabic are extremely desirable)

Volunteer Counsellors: We welcome Volunteer Counsellor applications, and will be reviewing these in July 2023. 

Garden Volunteer: We're looking for volunteers to care for the Pankhurst Garden including digging, watering, planting, weeding and litter picking. Our gardener Heidi would like support to make it look beautiful this summer, if you're available Mondays and Tuesdays between 9-4 please get in touch.
